After a good preseason, it was finally time for CDAC to kick-off their new league campaign, making the trip to Atletico Alfacar. It was a positive start for CDAC as we secured a well-earned 3-0 victory on the road.
The game started slowly with CDAC dominating possession but failing to create many clear chances on goal. Alfacar on the other hand didn’t really offer anything from a creative or attacking standpoint.
The second half saw CDAC make a tactical change, with Kyle Copp moving out to the left-hand side. The switch immediately paid dividends with the Welshman getting in behind twice to score two goals giving us a 2-0 lead. Copp showed a touch of class dedicating his second goal to the injured Mark Hastings, who has had to return to England for treatment. After a frantic start to the half, the game slowed down once more, with CDAC looking comfortable with their lead. Captain Sean Morris added a third late on for CDAC, with a cool finish from a cut back to the edge of the box.
All in all a positive result, three points and a clean sheet to start the season. There is definitely room for improvement but for our first competitive game at this level we can certainly be happy with the outcome. We now look forward to a trip to Baza next week, who won their opening game 3-1, so a potentially tougher fixture awaits. We also hop to welcome into the squad a number of players who haven't received their international clearance to play here in Spain.
