The Estadio Municipal Francisco Bonet played host to an absolute thriller of a football match last night. It was the first game back at home this season for CDAC as they faced Albolote CF, what a game it proved to be… for the fans at least. 8 goals, 3 red cards and plenty of goalmouth action was on display in front of a fantastic crowd that turned out to watch our home opener.
The game couldn’t have started any better for CDAC with Mathias Comes scoring after a matter of seconds. Shortly after the sibling centre back partnership of Mikhail and Alex Hastings teaming up to give CDAC a 2-0 lead, Mikhail with the long, looping throw which was headed into the net by Alex. However, Albolote CF pulled a goal back 5 minutes later before equalising with a fantastic long range free-kick. The two sides entered the break level with CDAC feeling frustrated at letting their 2-goal advantage slip.
The second half started tensely with neither side truly opening up. That was until CDAC were awarded a penalty after a handball in the box from an Albolote CF player. After a series of protests Albolote CF saw one of their players sent off and Kyle Copp calmly stepped up to dispatch the penalty past the despairing keeper as CDAC retook the lead. From this point, Albolote CF started to capitulate. Aaron Redford added a fourth, followed by a fifth from Carlton Westerdale. Albolote CF had another man sent off before Kyle Copp made it six after some great link up play with Aaron Redford. Albolote CF lost another man to a sending off as they finished the game with 8 men, whilst the match itself finished 6-2 in favour of CDAC.
Certainly a game to get the pulses racing, CDAC will be pleased to come away from the game with the victory and the three points in front of their home support. There are still some mistakes to be ironed out before we reach our true potential, but another good result is definitely pleasing. We look ahead now to next fixture and focus on gaining another three points.
