The wins keep flowing for CD Almuñécar City. This time against a tough Vandalia Peligros B side who made the trip to the Estadio Municipal Francisco Bonet. We cemented our position at the top of the table with an impressive 4-0 win, against a team who had only conceded 4 goals in total so far this season.
Our front 3 caused the Vandalia defence problems all game, creating numerous chances and making nuisances of themselves throughout the match, so it was great to see all 3 of the players Travis Bowen, Kyle Copp and Aaron Redford each grab a goal in the game. Aaron Redford looked lively early on, hitting the bar and seeing another good chance bobble wide. However, it was Travis Bowen who opened the scoring, adding to his goal streak by netting his 4th goal in his first 3 games, as he coolly slotted home past the on-rushing goalkeeper. The sides went in to the break with CDAC 1-0 in front.
Chances continued to flow for CDAC who could’ve put the game beyond doubt much earlier than they did. The second came from the penalty spot as Aaron Redford burst through only to be brought down by the Vandalia goalkeeper. Kyle Copp stepped up to confidently place the ball in the back of the net, doubling our lead. All of Aaron Redford’s hard work finally paid off as he bagged a goal of his own and CDAC’s third goal, with a good finish. Just a minute later, Redford broke through the Vandalia backline again and once again was brought down by the keeper. They say lightning doesn’t strike twice, but in this case it did. Redford fouled by the keeper, Copp steps up to take the penalty and the inevitable occurs… Copp makes it 4-0 from the spot because Kyle Copp doesn’t miss penalties.
A comfortable, confident victory for CDAC against a more than capable Vandalia Peligros B side is something we can be proud of. Another clean sheet and doubling the amount of goals that Vandalia have conceded this season, is the icing on the cake and a sign of the strength of our team. We thank all the fans for their support as we take a trip to U.D. Alfacar for our next game.
